Submissions
Please send all submissions to editor@hydrajournal.com
Guidelines for Submissions - Before you submit anything to us, please read and follow the guidlines below. Our goal is quick, electronic publication for graduate students. By following these guidelines closely, the editorial and publication processes will go more quickly and smoothly.
- Please have either an advisor, academic mentor, professor in your department or more senior graduate student you trust read your submission and help with revisions.
- Please send your article or book review in the following format: double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins, Word document; .doc is preferred but .docx and .pdf are acceptable as well. Please use footnotes in Turabian style for citations; see for examples: http://www.libs.uga.edu/ref/turabian.html.
- Please include a short (not more than 100 words) abstract at the beginning of your paper. Because abstracts are often published seperately, they should not contain specific reference citations.
- Preference will be given to papers that are 15-45 pages in length; book reviews should be no more than 1000 words; essay reviews (reviewing more than one book) should be no more than 3000 words, all submitted in the above format. Exceptions may be made by the editorial board for papers that do not meet these requirements.
- Before a manuscript is published in Hydra, all negotiations between the journal office, peer reviewers, and authors with regard to its content, organization, etc. must have been resolved. This includes any necessary permissions for use of content that is not the author's own, which the author should obtain before submission.
- Hydra uses double-blind refereeing; authors should therefore identify themselves only in the online submission email.
- Thank you for your submission! We look forward to reading it and getting back to you quickly!
